The Project

Coral Bay Residences is a current development of coastal Koh Samui which is arranged in a sequence of stepped residential buildings and villas that react to the topography of the site (steep slopes) and strategic viewing vistas. Our brief also includes architectural coordination as well as the control of approvals of authority with the purpose to make sure that the design intent is firmly in compliance with the special environmental regulations and setbacks of the coastal planning of Koh Samui.

The project reflects in our capacity to negotiate between complicated island-specific building regulations and how we retain a high-fidelity response to a sensitive natural place.

The Amenity Pavilion

The amenity pavilion is defined as a horizontal volume which is horizontally stratified to blend in with the main pool terrace. Cantilevered roof planes are also deepened to achieve a lot of shading of the sun without blocking ground level views.

The design enables this to be achieved through the application of thin structural elements and high-performance glazing, which allows the landscape and internal movement to pass through the central communal space without any obstruction.
