The Project

Butterfly Villas is a proposed residential project on a high-gradient coastal land in Koh Samui. The project is designed as a terraced sequence of villas typologies, which are specially designed to react to the dramatic topography of the location, panoramic sea views, and the wet and tropical climate.

Our commission includes all-inclusive architectural coordination and approvals by the statute, in a manner that provides smooth coordination of the design intent with the strict local regulatory frameworks and environmental protection.

Topographical Strategy & Masterplan

The masterplan takes a contour-sensitive strategy, which arranges individual villas on the natural slope of the hills to reduce excavations of cuts and fills and to maintain important view corridors of all villas. The volumes of buildings are strategically staggered both in plan and section to allow maximum privacy to occupants and to ensure natural ventilation to the building.

In this context, the circulation, vehicular access and landscape architecture are included as the fundamental elements of the main architectural language, and not auxiliary infrastructure.
