Chang Phueak House
Role
Concept Design and Feasibility Study
Status
Concept Design
Location
Chang Phueak, Chiang Mai, Thailand
The Project
Chang Phueak House is a residential cluster on low density designed on a foothill location within Chiang Mai. The proposal offers a more modern interpretation of regional pitched-roof typologies and wide-opening verandas where a modern structural language is used to maximise the environmental performance.
Homes will be designed with landscaped pedestrian spine which will provide passive shading and natural ventilation as well as a strict spatial hierarchy, which will provide the occupant with privacy and long term development viability.
The Villa Typology
This opinion depicts a classical villa raised above a practical service stele which is a key layout that incorporates vehicle parking and utilities under the main residential flooring. Timber screening and layered roof planes have been used to accurately control natural light and privacy and recessed glazing enables the habitation areas to extend into the surrounding landscape.
The resultant architectural structure strengthens a calm conversation between the constructed structure and the natural landscape of the place.
