Location

Hangdong, Chiang Mai, Thailand

The Project

Grenada Villas is a residential masterplanning and architectural feasibility study based on the strategic redevelopment of a low-density location by turning it into a unified community of villas. The scheme is designed in form of an official amenity precinct and through the Mediterranean style of an architectural vernacular to create a project identity and spatial order.

This feasibility-based methodology strictly experiments plot yield, road hierarchy, and built-form structures to optimize the value of future development and sustainability of urban grain.

The Villa Interface

The back elevation demonstrates how the main residential block and the personal pool terrace are integrated, which is supported by extensive arched glazing and horizontal lines of the balconies all through. The architectural composition has achieved a balance between formal symmetry and structural richness, whereby inner living spaces can flow in shaded exterior spaces.

The terrace and perimeter levels of the pool are perfectly in line with the grid of the structural facade, and this emphasis on the project to be proportionate, ordered, and have a continuous pattern of indoor-outdoor continuity is reaffirmed.
