The Project

Highland Villas is a conceptual low-rise residential project undertaken as a feasibility study in detail to assess site-planning, landscape considerations, and community amenity buildings in a challenging mountainous landscape. The residential clusters proposed follow a central water court and a sequential network of pavilions, and the residence clusters are arranged with the use of colonnaded circulation and axial views to create a strict hierarchy of space.

This design is developed to maximize occupant privacy and climatic performance and is reacting to the environmental peculiarities of highland setting.

The Arrival & Threshold

The approach sequence is designed like a formal drop off court, which is characterized by a linear colonnade and central architectural pavilion. The movement of vehicles is also incorporated in a disciplined architectural datum and glass-covered surfaces at the ground level ensure a high degree of visual contact with the internal landscape sanctuary.

This spatial structuring defines instant orientation and arrival legibility, defining a controlled, high-tech threshold of the access points of the population and the residential precinct.
