The Project

Kad Farang Lakeside is a luxury residential compound in Hangdong, Chiang Mai and is expressed as a set of timber-structured pavilions blended with a core lakeside garden. The masterplan is designed with strategic privacy gradients and solar sensitive fronts to make sure that there is high-performance living environment.

The use of shaded outdoors rooms and permeable patterns enables the natural cross ventilation and daylight modulation and constant visual communication between the living areas inside and the surrounding lake.

The Pavilion Composition

The courtyard pattern is used to arrange several functional pavilions on a landscaped circulation spine, which is important in isolating the privacy quarters and communal areas without interfering with the continuity of the visual aspect. Screen verandahs and timber roof designs can be used as thermal buffers, which offers a shaded transition between the conditioned interior space and the external area.

This is a modular design that is precisely adjusted to gather lake front breeze and panoramic views and at the same time ensuring strict privacy between the separate residential apartments.
