The Project

Nimman House is a completed private home carried out in a thorough full-scope architectural commission. The project offers a modern reimagining of classical tropics typologies, by using the colonnaded verandas, arched openings, and massive eaves on the roof to form the type of the building.

The arrangement of the main living areas around the enclosed courtyard and pool provides the design with an ideal passive shading, increased privacy of the occupants, and internal environmental control, building a privacy nest in the middle of a busy urban environment.

The Domestic Frontage

The garden elevation is used as the major residential interface and it is marked by a rhythm of arched verandas and raised terraces. These masonry columns create the strong impression of proportion and scale, with overhangs being recessed, providing important climatic protection against the solar heat and tropical rain.

The blending of the courtyard lawn and pool create a microclimate of control that is a thermal buffer that mediates the sophisticated living spaces of the interiors and the exterior residential environment.
