Location
Koh Samui, Surat Thani, Thailand
The Project
Samui Seaview Villa is a conceptual hill side villa in Koh Samui, as a circular pavilion that has been designed to react to the panoramic views of the coastal areas and the wind patterns of the sea. The plan unifies sustained perimeter terraces comprising of profound cantilevered overhangs and complete-height high-performance glazing.
This architectural approach is created to reach the flawless experience of indoors and outdoors living and yet strict principles of solar control and natural cross-ventilation in a high-graded site of tropical environment.
Geometry & Landscape Integration
The main architectural plan applied is a curved and raised volume on a stabilized landscape platform. The radial geometry is greatly designed with the view of maximizing seaward lines and minimizing the visual mass of the building in comparison to the profile of the natural hillside.
Perforated verandahs and built-in planted buffers are used as an effective thermal skin, which regulates the amount of sunlight striking the building, as well as providing privacy by incorporating a stratified permeable boundary between the interior being conditioned and the overgrown tropical environments.
