The Project

Titus house is a two storey single dwelling that is designed as a modest modern home that is specific to the urban Chiang Mai environment. The architectural plan incorporates a pool of superimposed thermal shading schemes, computerized openings and a strict structural grid to maximise privacy, thermal efficiency and spatial intelligibility.

The design of the building by enclosing internal landscaped courts extends the major living areas to the exterior and creates a blurred line between the built form and nature.

The Environmental Strategy

The elevation to the side depicts the strict environmental rationale of the project through the use of huge roof overhangs, vertical timber screens, and the use of strategic fenestration to reduce the solar heat gain and control the space between the building and its boundaries. One of the main circulatory spines is the central linear breezeway which provides cross-ventilation and connectivity between the internal areas in the form of shade.

This layout will strengthen the climate-dependent character of the residence, guaranteeing the internal comfort due to passive cooling and the deliberate space arrangement.
